Leonard Patillo


Leonard Patillo

Leonard Patillo passed away on May 8th according to his daughter-in-law Nikki. Leonard was the next-to-last of the original Channel Two group. We’re sure everyone will be sad to hear of his passing.

The picture is from our 2019 Reunion showing Leonard and his Emmy award. One of Leonard’s duties was remote broadcasts and the award was for network broadcasts.

Wendel Johnson


Channel 2 News reported May 5th that Wendel Johnson passed away earlier in the week at age 62. He was a news photographer for over 30 years and was liked by all of us who worked with him and admired by all for his photography skills.

Jon Burkhart


Word was received in early January, 2020 that long time Channel 2 director, Jon Burkhart, passed away. We’re trying to get more information and will pass it along when available.

Mickey Palmer


Michael E. “Mickey” Palmer, 78, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019, in Anahuac, Texas.

Mickey was an engineer at Channel 2, specializing in new gathering equipment – Electronic Journalism – where he picked up the nickname of “Doctor. E.J.”. Mickey later was contracted by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo as their Chief Engineer for many years.

Vivian Futral


Vivian Futral, Channel 2 receptionist, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2019.

Visitors to Channel 2 were always greeted with the smiling face of Vivian Futral. And Vivian always had that same smile for co-workers during her many years at KPRC-TV. She is missed by all of us.
